It has been compiled from the 1918 Luton Absent Voters List, Rolls of Honour; and information researched and uploaded by project volunteers and members of the public.

Before adding anybody to the site, it is always advisable to search for your ancestor first.
Pte Thomas John Bunker, 18968, 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards, was killed in action in France on February 10th, 1916. Using the name John, he was 19 and his home was at 73 Beech Road, Luton.
Stoker First Class Charles Higgs, K/7429, was lost when the armed boarding steamer HMS Fauvette hit two mines laid by a German submarine and sank in the Thames estuary, off North Foreland, Kent, on March 9th, 1916. He was aged 25 and one of 14 crew reported missing, believed dead.
John Crawford Cunningham was born in Luton in 1894.
In 1901 aged 6 years old he is living with his family at no 16 Gladstone Avenue.
Cpl Henry Lewis Hill, 10092, 2nd Battalion Beds Regiment, was killed in France on March 14th, 1916, when fragments of shell entered a cellar in which he and other men were sheltering. A second man was also killed while the remainder escaped unhurt.
Pte Thomas Everitt, 3/8430, 8th Battalion Beds Regiment, was killed in action near Ypres on March 1st, 1916. His younger brother, Frederick, 15432, Essex Regiment, was killed at Loos on September 26th, 1915.
Christopher Angus Cunningham was born in Luton in 1889, 1 of 4 children born to John Christopher & Clara.
In 1901 aged 12 years old he is living with his family at no 16 Gladstone Avenue.
Pte Albert George Taylor, 8459, 1st Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment, was killed in action at Ypres on November 7th, 1914. His widowed mother Sophia and sister Mabel were then living at 42 Collingdon Street, Luton.
Colin Campbell Daniels was born in Salford, Lancashire in 1894, the eldest of three children born to William Robert and Lily.
Pte Cyril Snoxell, 11370, 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment), died of pneumonia at the 6th Stationary Hospital, Le Havre in France, on March 23rd, 1916. He was aged 23.
Rifleman Augustus Tennyson Bruton, C/1611, 16th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, died at the Lord Derby War Hospital, Warrington, Lancs, on April 10th, 1916, from wounds accidentally sustained during bomb-throwing training in France. He was aged 21.
Cpl Reginald Sydney Buckingham, 17597, 1st Battalion Oxford and Buck Light Infantry, was killed in action while serving in the Persian Gulf on April 6th, 1916. He was aged 22.
Pte Victor Charles Groome, 6/1042, 4th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, was killed in action in France on May 25th, 1915. He had been reported missing, but it was a year later before his death was confirmed.

Pte Albert George Cox, 20172, 8th Bedfordshire Regiment, was killed in action near Ypres on April 19th, 1916. He enlisted on April 7th, 1915, and was trained at the Duke of Bedford's training camp at Ampthill. He was aged 33.
Pte Charles Ellingham, 22462, 8th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment, was killed in action near Ypres on April 19th, 1916.
L-Cpl Frederick Horace Goodwin, 19854, 8th Battalion Beds Regiment, was one of a number of soldiers with Luton connections killed in action in Flanders on April 19th, 1916.
Pte Walter Ernest Gore, 22505, 8th Battalion Beds Regiment, was killed in action near Ypres on April 19th, 1916, after just nine weeks of active service on the Western Front. He was aged 27.
Pte Frederick Thomas Sharp, 3/8705, 8th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment, was killed in action near Ypres on April 19th, 1916. He was aged 29 and the father of six children.
Pte Sidney George Higgins, 19752, 8th Bedfordshire Regiment, died on April 25th, 1916, from wounds sustained in action at Poperinghe that day. He was aged 36 and had enlisted in February 1915.
Bert Gardner was born in Luton in 1884, 1 of 12 children born to Philip & Mary (aka Kate).
Pte Ernest Morgan, 3/7366, 1st Bedfordshire Regiment, was killed in action near Arras on May 1st, 1916. He was aged 19.
Cyril Burberry Gibbons was born in Luton on 17th January 1895. He was the youngest of 5 children born to Henry & Henrietta.
Henry Gibbons was the owner of a drapery establishment at Denmark House No 2 Park Street, Luton.
Signal Boy Arthur Olney, 16, drowned when HMS Queen Mary was sunk in the Battle of Jutland on May 31st, 1916. His body was not found for burial.
Gunner RMA12399 Edmund Charles Dexter was killed or died as a direct result of enemy action while serving with the Royal Marines Artillery on the battlecruiser HMS Invincible, which was sunk during the Battle of Jutland on May 31st, 1916. His body was not found.
Signal Boy Frederick George Darby was a month short of his 17th birthday when he was drowned when HMS Black Prince was sunk during the Battle of Jutland on May 31st, 1916. His body was not found for burial.
Engineer-Lieut John McLennan Hine was died or was killed as a result on enemy action during the Battle of Jutland on May 31st, 1916, while serving on board the battlecruiser HMS Invincible, which was sunk.
Leading Stoker Frederick Neville was lost with the sinking of the battlecruiser HMS Queen Mary during the Battle of Jutland on May 31st, 1916. He was 28 years of age.
Seaman Henry Shedrick Joseph Hill, 19, son of Henry and Mary Ann Hill, of 94 Cobden Street, Luton, was reported lost in the Battle of Jutland while serving on HMS Turbulent (sunk).
Pte George Hermon Hart, 2899, 1/24th County of London Regiment (The Queen's), was killed in action in France on May 24th, 1916. He had recently celebrated his 21st birthday while in the trenches.
Pte Sidney Thomas Fleckney, 13164, 1st Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment, was killed in action in the front line at Arras on June 4th, 1916. He had at first been reported missing by the War Office.
Pte Albert Stratton, 3/10395, 2nd Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment, was killed in action in France on June 2nd, 1916. He was born in High Town in 1877.
George Marlow was born in Sundon, near Dunstable Bedfordshire in 1893.He was the eldest of 9 children born to Frederick & Emma.
