Christopher Angus Cunningham was born in Luton in 1889, 1 of 4 children born to John Christopher & Clara.

In 1901 aged 12 years old he is living with his family at no 16 Gladstone Avenue.

His father John Christopher is 39 & a travelling drapery & clothing retailer, his mother Clara is 40 & at home looking after Christopher Angus & his siblings, 9 year old Margaret Eva, 8 year old Alice Jean, 6 year old John Crawford & Ronald who is 1.

In 1911 Christopher is living with his family at No 10 Westbourne Road, Luton.

On 17th December 1914 Christopher married Dorothy Gilmore Clarke at the Catholic Church in Castle Street, Luton.

Their daughter Joan Agnes was born in November 1915.

The family was living at No 34 Chatsworth Avenue & Christopher was working as a commercial traveller when he enlisted into the Royal Engineers as a Motor Cycle Despatch Rider on 7th June 1916. He is described on his service record as 5ft 10 inches tall with a small scar on his lower eyelid.

After enlistment Christopher was stationed at the Royal Engineer's Signal Service Camp at Bletchley, Woburn, where he was promoted to Corporal on 3rd February 1917.

On 12th April 1917 he boarded a ship at Southampton & arrived in Basra, Mesopotamia, (modern day Iraq) on 13th May as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, leaving his daughter & newly pregnant wife at home. Peter Chris was born whilst Christopher was overseas in December 1917.

Christopher spent the duration of the war in Mesopotamia where he had joined the 31st Indian Signal Company, making his way up the ranks to Acting Sergeant.

On 8th January 1920 Christopher left Basra for the UK for demobilisation.

Their third child Ronald Crawford was born in 1923.

Christopher Angus died on 28th November 1949 in East Hyde, Bedfordshire.
