George Marlow was born in Sundon, near Dunstable Bedfordshire in 1893.He was the eldest of 9 children born to Frederick & Emma.
In 1911 he is 18 years old , working as a chalk digger in a lime works & living with his family in Sundon. His father is 43 years old & a farm labourer, his 16 year old brother Arthur is a truck driver & 14 year old brother Fred is a farm labourer. Horace aged 10 & 8 year old Ivy Sarah are at school whilst their 44 year old mother is at home looking after 2 year old Doris & 3 week old Evelyn (Cissie).
When war broke out in 1914 George was living with his family in Slate Hall, Sundon. He enlisted into the 2nd Bedfordshire Regiment.
The regiment served in France & were engaged in The Battle of Neuvechapelle, Festubert, second action in Givenchy & The Battle of Loos.
George survived the war & married Elsie L Thompson in 1919 in Biggleswade.
George died in March 1920 in Luton.
