Sidney Case was the only child of John & Ellen. He was born in Deepcar, Yorkshire in June 1897.
In 1911 he is living at 205 Hitchin Road, Luton. His father John is 35 years old & a carpenter's labourer, his mother Ellen is 38 & at home & Sidney is 13 years old & working as a doctor's errand boy. His cousin Percy Whittaker is living with them, he is 15 & working as a house boy.
On 17th January 1917 Sidney enlisted into the Army Service Corps. He did not fight abroad as he spent his service with the 869 MT Company at the No1 Reserve Mechanical Transport Depot at Grove Park in London, formerly the Greenwich Workhouse. He was a motor fitter & driver. During his service he suffered several bouts of rheumatic fever which was aggravated by war duty & was discharged because of this on 31st December 1918 to his home address of 113 Hitchin Road.
He survived the war but died on 22nd July 1919. He is buried in the cemetery on Rothesay Road.
