Pte David Lewis Fessey, 206905, 10th Battalion Royal West Surrey Regiment, was killed in action in Flanders on September 22nd, 1917. His home was at 13 Dunstable Place, Luton, with his widowed mother Mary and sister Emily.

He joined the Bedfordshire Regiment at Whitsun 1915 after an accident and illness had prevented him from enlisting earlier. He was later transferred to the Royal West Surreys and went to Egypt, from where he was invalided home suffering from dysentery in December 1916. He went out to France in June 1917 and took part in some severe fighting before meeting his death.

Previous to joining the Army, David Fessey was employed at the Great Northern Railway goods department in Luton.

His married brother George, who lived in Langley Street, Luton, was also serving in the Army. He had previously been employed by Blundell Bros.
