Gravestone of Walter William Pinney

In the 1911 census, Walter was living at 30 Oak Road, Luton. He was living with his 50 year old father Walter, who was as brickmaker's labourer, sister Ellen Victoria, 23, working as a launderess and his 17 year old sister Edith, who is a strawhat machinist. Walter is working as a sawmill machinist.

Walter marries Florrie Schrivener in 1911 and in March 1913 their son Ronald Walter was born. Walter was a sapper in the Royal Engineers 1st/1st East Anglia Div. Field Company. On 11th May 1915 Walter was returning to where he was stationed in Norwich, when he met with a tragic accident at Hatfield train station. The inquest into his death was reported in the Luton News 20th May 1915.
