George Charles Fensome was 1 of 6 children born to George & Mary Ann. He was born in Luton in 1897.
His mother had died in about 1906 & his father had remarried in 1910 to Sarah Ann Waller, so in the 1911 census he is living with his father, step mother & extended family at 93 Hitchin Road. There were 9 people living in this 5 roomed house, George 46, a bricklayer & his children, George Charles 14, an errand boy, Thomas 12, Emma 9 & 7 year old William are at school. Sarah Ann 52, a straw hat machinist & her children Fanny Bushwell is 16 & a straw hat machinist, Maud Bushwell 15 & 10 year old Rhoda Waller are at school.
George joined the 3rd Battalion Welsh Regiment. The Battalion was formed in August 1914 in Cardiff & remained in the UK for the duration of the war as a depot/training unit.
George died of accidental injuries on 20th June 1917. He is buried in the cemetery on Crawley Green Road.
