George Edwin Wade was born in Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire in 1894, 1 of 9 children born to Enoch & Ellen.
In 1911 he is 17 years old & working as a picture framer & living with his family at 13 Harcourt Street, Shelton, Hanley, Stoke on Trent. His 56 year old father Enoch is a school caretaker, with his mother Ellen, 53 as his assistant. His 3 older sisters are all working at a printing works, Gertrude 29 is a cashier, Lily 23 is a folder & siever & 20 year old Mary is a Lithographic. Ernest Arthur is 14 years old & working as a warehouse boy at a pottery & 6 year old Ethel is at school.
George enlisted into the Royal Engineers 3/1st North Midlands Field Company. In June 1915 he was billeted with Mrs Waller at 77 Hitchin Road, Luton & it was on the 29th of that month that he died suddenly. The regimental doctor was called who certified that George had died of natural causes, he was 22 years old.
George is buried in the cemetery in Rothesay Road, an account of his funeral was reported in the Luton News.
