George Kent Roll of Honour

Messrs George Kent Ltd, the well known engineering firm, have a very fine list of men who have gone from their works in Biscot Road, Luton, to take their places with the Colours.

Pte Horace E. Meade, who left the general office to join the Rangers, has laid down his life in the service of the country.

The list of those serving, as will be seen below, includes men from all departments of the works, and also from the board of directors. It should be added that in addition to the names of those given below a number of others offered their services, but were rejected on various grounds, while the roll of honour at the works also gives the names of many men who desired to enlist but were retained at the works on the ground that they were doing much more valuable service to the country in employing their skill in the production of munitions than they would be able to do by taking up the rifle. As is to be expected, many of the men who are serving are in the Royal Engineers, for which their special trade qualifications render them eminently suitable.

While the list below only gives the names of men who have gone from the Luton works, the Holborn and Lansdowne works of the company have also contributed a considerable number of men to the Forces.

The directors and other members of the company and the men from Luton works who are serving and on the Roll of Honour, are:
