George (jnr) Henry Webb was the son of George Webb, a dentist of Westbourne Road, Luton, and his wife Elizabeth.
At the age of 17 years and 2 months, on 5 September 1911, George Henry Webb enlisted for 4 years in the Royal Army Medical Corps (Territorial Army) at Harlow, and served in WW1 as a Private. He was attached to the Essex Royal Horse Artillery as part of the Field Ambulance.
He subsequently re-engaged for a further period of 4 years and was attached to 263 Brigade Royal Field Aritllery. On 18 February 1916 he was transferred to Mesopotamia as part of the Medititerranean Expeditionary Force. His service record simply shows him attached to 263 Brigade Royal Field Artillery Field Ambulance until his return home on 12 June 1918.
Like his brother Bernard, George also lied about his age when he enlisted as he was really 16 years and 2 months, not 17 years and 2 months as shown on his attestation paper.
George Henry Webb (junr) served with the Royal Engineers (RE) post WW1, the latter part of his career being involvement in WW2 as part of the BEF in France. He was invalided out of the RE just before the Dunkirk evacuation so he missed the horror of that.
After serving in WW1 and WW2, he ended his days as a Chelsea Pensioner, at the famous Royal Hospital in Chelsea at the age of 88, but in Army records 89.
