Sapper Harry Rosson

Harry Rosson was born on 24th November 1886 in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, 1 of 5 children born to Richard & Laura.

In 1891 the family are living on Hockliffe Road, Leighton Buzzard. Richard is 64 & a carpenter, Laura is 44. Frank the eldest son is 14 years old & working as a parchment maker's boy, 10 year old Lily & 8 year old George are at school, whilst 5 year old Harry & 2 year old Laura are at home.

Private Percy John Hull

Percy John Hull jnr was born in Sundon, Bedfordshire on 16th November 1895.

In 1911 Percy John is 15 years old & working as a farm boy & living in Slate Hall Cottages, Sundon with his family. His father Percy is 36 & working as a farm labourer, his mother Matilda is 33. His younger brother Frederick James is 13 & also working as a farm boy. His other siblings, 11 Year old Florence Emma, 9 year old Frank & 7 year old Dorothy are at school.

Private Percy John Hull

Percy John Hull was born in Sundon, Bedfordshire in July 1874.

He married Matilda Fowler on 5th August 1895.

In 1911 Percy is 36 years old & working as a farm labourer & living in Slate Hall Cottages, Sundon with his 33 year old wife Matilda & their children. Percy John is 15 & Frederick James is 13 & both are working as farm boys. 11 Year old Florence Emma, 9 year old Frank & 7 year old Dorothy are at school.

Private Frederick Stanley Marlow

Frederick Stanley Marlow was born in 1898 in Chalton, Bedfordshire. He was the eldest of 2 children born to Charles & Kate.

In 1911 he is living with his family in Sundon, near Dunstable in Bedfordshire. He is 13 years old & working as a farm labourer. His father is 36 years old & working at the cement & lime works whilst his 33 year old mother is at home looking after his 5 year old sister Dorothy.

Private Charles Marlow

Charles Marlow was born in 1875 in Sundon, near Dunstable in Bedfordshire. He was 1 of 7 children born to William & Sarah Ann.

In 1881 he is 6 years old & living with his family in Sundon. HIs father is 30 years old & working as an agricultural labourer alongside Charles' brother 12 year old Frederick. His mother Sarah 30, is at home looking after his younger siblings, George 9, Clara 4 & 1 year old Esau.

Sergeant Levi Welch Gazeley

Levi Welch Gazeley was born in October 1877 in Round Green, Luton.

In 1891 he is 13 years old. He is working as a tailor & living with his family at 170 North Street. His father Frederick Welch Gazeley is 34 years old & working in the hat trade as a plait collector. Levi's sister, 18 year old Florence Butterfield is also working in the hat trade as a straw hat finisher. Their mother Rose Anna 39 is at home looking after the younger siblings, Benjamin aged 10, 8 year old Charlotte & Alice May who is 5.

Private Percival Edward Clark

Percival Edward Clark was born in Luton in January 1891, the youngest of 3 sons born to Charles & Eliza.

In 1911 he is 20 years old & working as a clerk in a warehouse & living at 63a Inkerman Street. His father Charles Alfred is 55 & a foreman at a timber sawmill, his mother Eliza is 57 & one of his older brothers, Sidney William is a joiner.

Percival married Ellen Sole on the 24th April 1915 at the Baptist Meeting House, Park Street & on the 24th June 1916 their daughter Vera was born.

Private Charles Henry Carrington

Charles Henry Carrington was born in Luton in 1875.

On 15th August 1894 he married Rose Ellen Mouse in Luton.

In 1911 they are living at 44 Lyndhurst Road. Charles, 36 is working as a straw hat dyer & 38 year old Rose Ellen is at home looking after their 4 daughters, Dorothy Margot 16, Phyllis Geraldine 15, Gwendoline 13 & 10 year old Leila Beryl.

Lieutenant Stanley Burnet

Lieut Stanley Burnet, 17th Training Squadron, Royal Air Force, died in a flying accident at Yatesbury, Wiltshire, on May 31st, 1918. He had joined the Royal Flying Corps on March 4th ahead of it becoming the RAF and earned his flying certificate in a Caudron Bi-Plane at Ruffy-Baumann school in Acton.

Private William Brooks

William Brooks was born in Nottingham in 1881. 1 of 13 children born to Albert & Emma.

On 11th December 1899, aged 18 years old William married Clara Smith in Luton.

In 1901 he is working as a milkman, Clara is working as a straw hat finisher & they are living with their 1 year old son Baden William at 42 Arthur Street.

In 1908 William married Annie Frost, because in January 1905 Clara had died.

Private Henry Cecil Pugh

Henry Cecil Pugh was born in 1899.

In 1911 he was 13 years old & living with his parents Albert & Mary Hannah Brooks at 97 Ash Road.

On the outbreak of war he enlisted into the Bedfordshire Regiment alongside his father, but later transferred to the 1/2nd Battalion London Regiment Royal Fusiliers.

He was killed in action in France & Flanders.

Sergeant Albert Brooks

Albert Brooks was born in Nottingham in 1879, 1 of 13 children born to Albert & Emma.

In January 1909 he married Mary Hannah Pugh in Luton.

In 1911 he is 33 years old & working as an iron foundry labourer at the gas stove makers. He is living with his wife Mary, 34 & 13 year old son Henry Cecil Pugh at 97 Ash Road. His sister-in-law Annie Pugh, 20 is living with them & working as a spreader at the gelatine factory. John Anderson 21, is boarding with them whilst working with Albert at the gas stove makers as an iron moulder.
