John Oliver Ernest Trott was born in Stoke Newington, London in March 1899. He was 1 of 5 children born to Ernest & Grace.

In 1911 John in 12 years old & living at 28 Grove Road Luton with James his 81 year old widowed grandfather a retired straw hat manufacturer. Also living  with him are his 2 aunts, Elizabeth 60 is a milliner & 46 year old Frances Helena a housekeeper. James' 19 year granddaughter Gladys Brown, an assistant dressmaker, is also a member of the household.

John's mother & father are living at 11 Cardiff Road. Ernest is 41 & working as a turf commission agent & 34 year old Grace is at home with Grace May 14, Gladys Rowena 8 & 1 year old Charles Edward. They have a general servant living with them, 18 year old Rose Kempson.

On 14th December 1916 17 year old John joined the Army Service Corps, Army Reserves. He was living at 121 Warwick Road, New Southgate, London & working as an assistant in a hosiery shop. At Isleworth, Middlesex John passed his learners test on 10th June 1917.

John was posted to Kent where he provided home service, so did not see action overseas. During his service he spent time in & out of Shorncliffe & Grange War Hospital with bronchial problems & was finally discharged from war service with Anaemia, Rheumatics & Tuberculosis.

John died on 5th April 1918 & was buried in the Rothesay Road cemetery.
